Castleford

Working in Castleford was how I first came to the area, and the high street and market have always been the beating heart of the town. 

And people I speak to tell me how disappointed they are that plans for Castleford are focused on vanity projects, not building on its strengths to be the focus of daily life for everyone once again.

We need a town centre that's accessible for all and has everything you need.

In Castleford, I'll focus on:

• Keeping Castleford town centre as the hub of local life - the place to go when you need to get things done.

• I'll make sure I lead the way with an office in the centre of Castleford that you and your family can access when you need my help.

• Attracting and maintaining the shops, services and facilities you need by working with retailers, landlords and Wakefield Council to find solutions so we don't see more familiar brands like Marks and Spencer leave town.

• Make the town centre accessible to all - using my influence to make sure any development includes better disability parking and access, more public toilets and accessible signage.

• Support the retailers and market traders who rely on cash transactions by making sure we keep access to cash for all.

• Making sure we've got a regular police presence in town - not just police walking the beat, but somewhere you know you can access police to tell them about your local concerns or report crime and antisocial behaviour without having to call or go online.
