Darrington, Wentbridge and East Hardwick are popular places to live for a reason - they have a quiet village atmosphere with incredibly convenient transport connections for commuting. But the convenience of these villages can also mean that residents bear the brunt of any problems with the A1.
In Darrington, Wentbridge and East Hardwick, I'll make sure that:
Residents are properly informed and consulted about any works on the A1, and helped with any problems that it causes
The A1 upgrade is reprioritised with the Department for Transport - easing the congestion where three lanes become two.
The character of the villages is not destroyed by unsuitable developments by volume housebuilders - any new homes should not overwhelm the villages and should be in keeping with the rest of the village.
People in the villages get the opportunity to speak to their MP face-to-face, even if they can't get into town, with regular village street surgeries and open events at convenient locations.
