In a pre-budget special, the BBC's Yorkshire Political Editor Tim Iredale challenged Yorkshire with claims that despite the Conservatives' new front bench team and fully-costed economic policies, the party would repeat the mistakes of the past.
Laura was quick to hit back, saying "The thing that Kemi has been very, very clear on is that things that happened in Tory governments in the past are no indication of things that Tory governments will do in the future".
She said of Kemi Badenoch, "I believe she is going to do exactly what she says - she is a woman of conviction and I am fully looking forward to seeing her and Andrew Griffith lead a very, very different economy in the future."
At a lighter moment in the show, host Tim Iredale suffered a momentary slip of the tongue where he asked if guests welcomed spending by a "Laura government".
Laura quipped after filming that "I'm focusing on making sure there is a Kemi government at the moment, but if she gets sick of the job in the future I'll see what I can do!"

Laura Weldon has described the comments of Lib Dem candidate David Chalmers as "dehumanising" in response to the news that the Cambridgeshire candidate described Leave voters as "xenophobic" and "bigots".
Laura was contacted for comment by Express journalists wanting to know the views from our Leave-voting area.
Laura commented to Daily Express Assistant Politics Editor Sam Stevenson:
“People who voted Leave did so for a variety of reasons. I know in my area (that heavily voted to leave) immigration was a factor, but perhaps instead of just calling people names people like David could try and have a conversation about what’s really behind those concerns.”
Laura has vowed to uphold Brexit and our sovereignty, whilst maintaining an open dialogue with EU countries to cooperate as friends, neighbours and allies where our sovereignty is not at stake.

Laura Weldon has highlighted air quality in the Five Towns and made a plea to authorities to consider the environment as a whole when making environmental decisions at a recent panel debate hosted by Asthma and Lung UK ahead of the Mayoral Elections on May 2nd.
Representing Conservative Mayoral candidate Arnold Craven, Laura set out not only Arnold's priorities to get things done in West Yorkshire - including a well-overdue mass transit system - but also her reflections on her past campaigns on environmental issues like plastic waste and construction dust.
Laura said,
"Many members of my family have suffered (and in some cases died) from debilitating lung conditions and illnesses, so I know how important clean air is to us all. Nobody wants to breath air full of gases and soot, but we have to take everyone with us on this. A sustainable future is one where people are happy and even excited to use cleaner, greener options - and I want to make sure that people in the Five Towns who can't afford the latest eco innovations aren't left behind or punished unfairly."
Laura also highlighted the planning system and local authorities' parts to play in this - with planning permission holding up mass transit, and local authorities falling short on providing the bike lanes and safe active travel options that we all need to get out of our cars.
